Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

How can our minds be renewed? While there are many ways to look at this, you know were going to keep it short sweet and simple here, so lets start with understanding the deeper symbolic/spiritual lesson. For that we will look at Ephesians 4: 22 and 23

22 That ye put off concerning the former [life] the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Notice that to be renewed in our minds we must put off the corrupting and deceitful lusts. I think its interesting that the previous desires or lusts are styled as deceitful, but thats a whole other post.

We can't continue to feed the old habits and practices and still be re-new-ed.

Colossians 3:10 says "and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him"

Notice the connection again to putting off the old man (here simply said as putting on the new man). This is essential for a renewed mind, but in this verse another idea is used to build the argument. The text says that the new man is renewed in knowledge after the image of Jesus.

How may our minds be renewed with this knowledge of the image of Jesus?

Where is this knowledge?

The Bible.

Here is a very simple yet profound thing, something that we all know but don't commit to.
