If God exists; an eternal person that was never created, but instead, created everything including human beings. Do you think that this God would want His creatures to know about Him? If God really does exist, would you like to know Him? Think of it this way, it is natural for parents to want to know their children (the beings they “created”), and also for children to want to know their parents (the beings they were “created by”). In the same way, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to consider that this God who created everything would want His creation to know about Him, or that there would be an innate desire for humankind to want to know it’s Creator.

Imagine a couple in a war camp who receive the privilege of gaining refugee status to the United States. While in this country it just so happens that the wife gets pregnant, and the couple have a child. This child, being born in the United States, automatically becomes a United States citizen. Suddenly, for some unfortunate reason the refugee parents are forced to go back to their country where they are certain they will die in the war. The parents also came to the United States with some relatives who do not have to go back to the country in war.

Do the parents bring their child back with them, or do they leave the child with family? Would you? If I were certain my child would die, I wouldn’t even consider it. Now let’s say you were one of the child’s parents and like me you would decide to leave your child with family. Before going back to your country, would you leave any information with the family with whom you were leaving your child? Perhaps some letters that one day your child could read and understand? Maybe you would record a video showing your child how you look, what you sound like, and who you are? Maybe explaining the separation that had taken place between you and your little child?

Considering all of this, is it outrageous then to think that a God who loves His creation would leave information for those He has created? Information explaining Himself, who He is, and what He is like? Even explaining why there is a separation between humankind and Himself?

The scriptures say that God is love, most everyone would agree that communication is an essential component of love. Therefore God, being love must be in His essence, a communicator.

He desires to communicate, with you.

Father, open our ears and eyes, open our minds, to perceive, listen and see that which you are trying to communicate.

IJN,

amen
