One of the most beautiful promises on the Bible is found in John 14:27 where it says,

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Jesus spoke these words not too long before He died. However, it perplexes me, how could a man, on the brink of suffering the cruelest death any human being was called to endure, have peace? Amidst all that turmoil, where did the peace come from? How did He have it?

I will show you how.

Exodus 14:14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Jesus believed His battles were being fought by God His Father. God can fight your battles too.

Isaiah 27:5 Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

Jesus took hold (held on) to His Father’s strength, it was stronger than everything else. God can give this same strength to you.

Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Jesus loved God’s law, and found peace; it was impossible to offend Him.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Amid the chaos, Jesus kept His mind staaaaayed on His Father. When so many things fight for our attention; the stresses of life, the distractions of life; TV, Netflix, social media, come away and for a moment fix your mind on God, you –will— have peace.

Leviticus 26:6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

Nothing shall make you afraid with this peace. Jesus was not afraid.

Numbers 6:26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee peace.

The Father lifted His countenance on Jesus; it gave Him a steady supply of peace. The Father will do the same for you.

Job 22:21 Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

Jesus was acquainted with His Father, it gave Him peace. Acquaint yourself too, and be at peace.

Psalm 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

Oh that sounds like confidence, be confident in the peace that God offers.

Psalm 29:11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Peace is a blessing, God gives it because He is a Blesser, just humbly say, God, thank You for Your peace.

Psalm 55:18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.
Psalm 72:7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.

He will deliver you, the battle may be hot, the enemy may be strong, but as long as the moon endures, God will give you peace.

In the midst of the storms of life, listen to what Jesus says,

Mark 4:36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Even amidst the storm, we may rest, and have peace.

Peace be still.

The winds obey.

The waves obey.

The storm obeys.

Peace be still.

Psalm 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Jesus was humble, meek, and lowly; He invites you to emulation,

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

What if you feel like a sinner, and don’t feel like these verses may be applied to your life? Notice what Romans says,

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

We are made just, by faith in Christ. Our wrongs are forgiven, our mistakes overlooked, in Jesus, the Father sees us as just, and guess what, the peace that Jesus had, He offers to us.
